How I help

Let people see the value of a good broker.

You know which questions change a funding proposal. Why a lender's first refusal might leave other options open. When the quickest facility could create a bigger problem later.

Those decisions reveal the experience behind your advice.

I bring that understanding into your marketing, giving prospective clients and introducers more to judge you by before the first conversation.

Three clients asked me the same thing this month: is bridging worth the cost? Short answer: only if the timing is worth more than the fee…

Is bridging finance right for a quick purchase?

It can be, if timing matters more than cost. It's typically used for short-term, time-sensitive purchases, such as buying before a sale completes.

When it fits: auction deadlines, chain breaks, property needing work before a mortgage.

How it works

The alternative

An in-house marketing executive costs around £2,500 a month to employ, before holidays, sickness cover, training and management. Both services cost less, carry none of that overhead, and you approve everything that's published.

Based on the UK average marketing executive salary (Payscale, July 2026), plus employer National Insurance and minimum pension.

About

The person you speak to does the work.

I'm David, founder of MBS.

I work with commercial finance brokers and advisory firms to make their expertise, judgement and value visible.

I want to understand the reasoning behind your work: what you ask, what you notice, how you weigh up the options and what clients need help understanding. That is where the most useful material comes from.

I turn it into writing that gives business owners a clearer understanding of your approach and gives introducers something worth sharing.

Writing

Where I stand.

Two opinion pieces on how I write and why I share the method. The finance pieces build from here.

New pieces each month, starting with finance.

Case study

From a product list to a guided route.

Messaging and website structure for a commercial finance brokerage

A business owner may know what they need funding to achieve without knowing which facility to ask for.

For this brokerage, I restructured the website around that starting point.

Before

Product names, broad funding promises and a request for an enquiry. The visitor had to decide which type of finance sounded appropriate before speaking to the broker.

After

A route beginning with the business's plans: buying equipment, taking on a contract, managing cash flow or purchasing property. The structure introduces relevant options and explains how the broker helps develop a proposal.

Why this approach

It brings the broker's thinking into the website. Visitors can see how the conversation develops and what the firm contributes along the way.

Project focus: messaging and website structure.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Which service should I choose?

Signal suits firms that want a consistent programme of website content and search improvements, and can supply source material in writing.

Coverage adds a monthly conversation, LinkedIn and a newsletter. It suits firms that also want to stay visible to clients and introducers between funding conversations.

Do you only work with commercial finance brokers?

No. Commercial finance is the specialism. The same work suits any advisory firm that sells judgement: solicitors, accountants, occupational health providers, wealth managers.

How will you understand my business and voice?

We begin with your services, clients, priorities and existing material. On Coverage, the monthly conversation adds the explanations, observations and phrasing that make the work recognisably yours.

You review the content before it is published.

What do you need from me on Signal?

Access to relevant existing material, brief written input on the agreed topic and your review of the draft. This can include client questions, anonymised examples, presentations or previous explanations.

If talking through the material is easier than supplying it in writing, Coverage includes that conversation.

How do Google and AI search fit together?

Both need useful information that people and search systems can access and understand.

I work on your content and existing pages, then monitor relevant Google performance and a consistent sample of AI answers. The checks show what happened in those tests; they are one part of the wider picture.

How much of my time does Coverage take?

A 45-minute source conversation each month, plus time to review and approve the work. I handle the planning, writing and publication.

How do you handle financial promotions?

We agree the review and approval process before publication, including any compliance review your firm requires.

I prepare content with the relevant requirements in mind. Nothing is published until the agreed approvals are complete, including approval by an appropriate authorised person where required.

How will I know whether it is working?

We agree your priorities and starting position at setup.

The report shows the work completed, relevant search visibility, audience response and enquiries where the source is known. We review these together, including whether the enquiries match the work you want.

At the three-month review, we assess progress and decide what should happen next.

How do you measure the work that doesn't show in the report?

Partly, you can't, and I won't pretend otherwise. The report tracks search, AI visibility, enquiries and engagement.

On the monthly call, I also ask where new clients came from and whether they read anything first. Over time, that fills in the rest.

How long is the commitment?

There is an initial three-month term, followed by a monthly rolling arrangement. Setup is included.
